STEM Lab Finale -- A YEAR IN REVIEW!

It is hard to believe that this school year has quickly come to an end!  The STEM Lab has been a very popular place for Goodpasture Pre-1st thru 6th grade students this year!

We have learn A LOT!!  We began our year learning all about our senses and our body systems!  We made cool experiments like blood models, bone models, and the really gross stomach model!  We watched chicken bones lose calcium and turn into a bendy and mushy mess.  We exercised various muscle groups in our "Muscle Boot Camp"!  We celebrated health, and we learned about the importance of healthy diets!

We moved on to the neat area of forensic science , learning a lot about fingerprinting and investigating crime scenes!  We learned a lot about different aspects of engineering in our Engineering Concept Days -- especially enjoying playing with our life-size JENGA game!

We spent several weeks studying wild, wacky and wonderful weather!  We learned about precipitation and the water cycle.  We learned about geology and volcanoes!  We made a model of a volcano, and we had a blast erupting it!  We shook, rattled, and rolled as we learned about earthquakes!

We welcomed spring as we studied about the sun and ladybugs!  We learned about plants in nature on a fun hike on the Cougar Trail!  We even learned about dinosaurs!  Pretty cool!

We had fun holiday "candy" labs!  We met the hysterical Dr. Kra  Zee for Halloween!  We learned about estimation and symmetry in a fun "Heart to Heart" Valentine's lab!  We learned some cool Easter science with peeps and chocolate!

I have really enjoyed teaching STEM Lab this year!  As most of you probably know, I have accepted the 8th grade English position at Goodpasture for next year!  Mr. Billy Seal will be transitioning as the new STEM Lab teacher for 2014/2015!  Mr. Seal is excited about his new position, and I know he will bring a lot of learning, fun and knowledge into the lab!  I promise I will come back to visit, and I want my students to come visit me in the high school building!

Yes, we have learned A LOT!  But there is still so much to learn!  Have a great summer, and be ready for another exciting year of STEM Lab beginning again in August!

Here are a few pics to remind us of the fun and learning we have had this year!

Love to all --
