| Dr. Kray Zee visited STEM Lab for a crazy day! |
In honor of Halloween, the STEM lab turned into a laboratory full of creepy, silly, slimy and bubbly experiments! Students enjoyed a "Candy Lab" with a variety of candy. We learned that candy corns will not float in water, but are completely soluble in water. We also explored some "Soluble Sweets", with M&Ms, gummie bears, Skittles, Smarties and Eye Ball Gum Balls. (Gummie bears also "grow" in water!) We understood that eggs sink in regular tap water, but will magically "floats" in a salt water solution. We mixed vinegar, dish soap, food coloring, glitter and baking soda to make a strong chemical reaction of a brilliantly, beautiful, bubbling brew! We combined white glue, water, food color and borax to create a simply, sludgy slime!
Students were amazed on Halloween when Mrs. Sweet mysteriously disappeared! In her place was the kooky Dr. Kray Zee! Dr. Zee howled, laughed and screeched all day! Some students were very concerned that Mrs. Sweet might not come back! Never fear, by Friday, Dr. Kray Zee was gone, and Mrs. Sweet was back!
